Eyelash Lifts vs Extensions: What’s the Difference?

Your guide to choosing the perfect lash look

Lash lift vs eyelash extensions.
Lash lift vs eyelash extensions.

Whether you’re after a low-maintenance lash boost or a dramatic eye-opening effect, two popular salon services—lash lifts and lash extensions—offer beautiful results in very different ways.

We work with RefectoCil for lash lifts and Xtreme Lashes Canada for extensions, both trusted industry leaders known for their quality and long-lasting results. Here’s what you need to know before booking your next lash service.

What is a Lash Lift?

A lash lift is like a perm for your natural lashes—it enhances what you already have by curling and lifting each lash from the base to the tip.

Process:

  1. Lashes are gently cleaned and prepped.

  2. A silicone shield is applied to your eyelid, and lashes are lifted and secured to it.

  3. A lifting solution from RefectoCil is applied to reshape the lash curl.

  4. A neutralizing solution sets the curl, followed by optional tinting for extra depth.

Results & Durability:

  • Lifts last 6–8 weeks, depending on your lash growth cycle.

  • No fills required—lashes simply grow out naturally.

Maintenance:

  • Avoid getting lashes wet or using oil-based products for 24 hours after the service.

  • Daily care is minimal—no special brushes or adhesives needed.

Cost:

  • $75 + tax roughly.

What are Lash Extensions?

Lash extensions involve adhering synthetic or natural-looking lash fibers to your individual lashes, adding length, curl, and volume instantly.

Process:

  1. Natural lashes are cleansed to remove oil and residue.

  2. A stylist applies Xtreme Lashes® Canada extensions using medical-grade adhesive—one by one—to each lash.

  3. Style is customized based on desired look (natural, hybrid, or full-volume).

Results & Durability:

  • Extensions last as long as your natural lash cycle (6–8 weeks), but require fills every 2–4 weeks to maintain fullness.

Maintenance:

  • Avoid water and steam for the first 24 hours.

  • Brush daily with a lash spoolie to keep them tidy.

  • Use oil-free makeup removers and avoid rubbing your eyes.

Cost:

  • Full set: $150–$200 + tax

  • Fills: $50–$70 + tax every 2–4 weeks.
